SETI Pioneer Frank Drake, Of ‘Drake Equation’ Fame, Dies At 92 – Space.com

The Drake Equation is a probablistic argument to estimate the number of active, communicating alien civilizations in the galaxy. One of the variables concerns how long these civilizations could endure. In Dr. Drake’s case, that number would be 92 years. Funnin’ around aside, Mike Wall notes there’s a lot more to celebrate about Dr. Drake than merely a maverick equation, like the Arecibo message, the Pioneer plaque, and others. Farewell! (CS)
